What a Chapter Lead does
Access to technology should be a human right, not a privilege of geography or income. A Chapter Lead is the student who carries that conviction forward on their own campus. A Chapter Lead is the person on the ground who makes AI real for their peers after the Tembi team has flown home. You organise further AI events, run smaller workshops, and advance digital, tech and AI literacy across your university. You are the bridge between your community and the wider Tembi network, and you help decide where devices and support land next.
This is a leadership role, not a title. You set the pace. Tembi gives you the format, the training, the sponsored AI tools and the network. You bring the energy and the local knowledge that no outsider can replicate.

What the Chapter Lead Programme opens for you
The Chapter Lead Programme is designed to give as much as it asks. You get structured training built with our company and research-lab partners, sponsored AI tools, and a mentor who has run events before. You also step into a network of student leaders running AI hackathons for students across the Global South, which is a rare thing to have on a CV and an even rarer thing to have in your contacts.
The digital skills you build here travel. Organising an event, teaching a tool, and leading a community are exactly the abilities that turn into AI skills for jobs, whether you go into research, a startup or a role at a company. A Chapter Lead is a student ambassador for a bigger idea, that digital inclusion is something students can build for one another, not wait to receive.

No. Chapter Leads come from every field. What matters is curiosity, reliability and the drive to organise events and support your peers. We provide the AI training you need.
It is flexible and student-friendly. Most Chapter Leads run a handful of events across a term plus lighter community work in between. You set a pace you can sustain alongside your studies.
The Chapter Lead role is a leadership and community role, not a salaried job. You gain training, sponsored AI tools, mentorship, a global network and real organising experience. Any support is confirmed directly with you.
The usual path is to take part in a Tembi AI hackathon on your campus, then apply to lead the local chapter. If there is no hackathon at your university yet, write to us and we will talk about bringing one.
A Chapter Lead organises events and grows the community. An AI Champion is the go-to expert other students turn to for help with AI tools. Many people grow from one role into the other.
Real organising experience, a portfolio of events you ran, training in AI tools, and a network of peers and mentors across the Global South. Many Chapter Leads use that foundation to move into research, startups or roles where digital and AI skills matter. ---
